Honest by design.

Three things worth knowing before you install.

Where prices come from

HotelDrop retrieves prices through the Travelpayouts / Hotellook partner network, which aggregates published rates from 15+ booking sites in real time. These are the same public rates you'd see if you visited each site yourself — we don't mark them up or filter them.

How our affiliate model works

When you click a booking link inside HotelDrop and complete a reservation, the booking site pays us a small affiliate commission — typically 2–5% of the room rate. Your price is identical to booking directly. We earn the same amount regardless of which option you choose, so we always show you the cheapest first.

What we never do

  • No fake urgency or manufactured scarcity
  • No price manipulation — we can't change what booking sites charge
  • No injecting affiliate codes into your other shopping
  • No selling or sharing your data with third parties
  • No spam — alert emails only fire when a price genuinely drops
Calendar flex

Move your dates ±3 days.
Save up to $80.

Hotel prices swing wildly based on the day you arrive. Tuesday instead of Friday can mean $60 less per night on the same room.

HotelDrop's calendar view shows you the cheapest nearby dates before you commit — a feature most hotel research tools don't offer.

  • See ±3 days at a glance without leaving the page
  • Price differences shown in dollars, not percentages
  • Works on Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia and more
Price-drop alerts

Set a watch.
Get one email.
Book at the right time.

You found a hotel. The price is okay but not great. You want to know if it gets cheaper — but you're not going to check 8 tabs every morning.

Click "Watch this hotel." We check the price every 6 hours. The moment it drops 5%+, you get an email with a direct booking link — before the price goes back up.

  • No account — just your email address
  • Checks every 6 hours across all 15 sites
  • Alert fires on ≥5% price drop — no noise from tiny moves
  • Email includes one-click booking link (affiliate-tagged)
  • Watch up to 50 hotels per email address

What checking 8 tabs actually costs you.

A realistic look at one hotel booking, done manually:

Manually checking 8 booking sites ~12 min × 6 hotels = 72 min
Forgetting which tab had the cheapest price ~3 reload cycles
Reconciling different currencies and "total" vs "per-night" prices ~4 min per hotel
Not knowing if today is the cheapest booking day Priceless 😤
Missing the Agoda price because you forgot it existed $47 lost forever
Total cost per trip planned ~90 min + $40–90 you might miss

HotelDrop does the 90 minutes in 2 seconds — and watches the price while you sleep.

Real trips. Real savings. Named cities and dollar amounts.

How is this free? Here's the honest answer.

Honey hid their affiliate model and it cost them everything. We do the opposite.

When you click "Book on Expedia" inside HotelDrop and complete a booking, Expedia pays us a small affiliate commission — usually 2–5% of the room rate. That's it. The price you pay does not change based on whether you went through HotelDrop or directly.

What this means:

  • HotelDrop is free forever. We have no incentive to ever charge you.
  • We earn the same whether you book the cheapest option or the most expensive. So we always show you the cheapest.
  • We will never sell your data. Your watches are stored only to send you alerts; we don't share them with anyone.

What we don't do:

  • Inject affiliate codes into your other shopping (Honey-style). We only work on hotel-booking sites you visit.
  • Mark up prices. We can't — the booking site shows you their public price.
  • Hide cheaper options to push higher-commission ones. We sort by price, period.

Hi, I built this. 👋

Last year I booked a hotel in Lisbon and realized 3 days later it was $80 cheaper on Agoda. I'd checked Booking. I'd checked Hotels.com. I hadn't checked Agoda because I forgot it existed.

I built HotelDrop because that loss kept happening — to me, to my partner, to my parents. The existing tools either cover only a handful of sites, or require you to search from scratch on their own platform rather than the hotel page you're already on.

HotelDrop is what I wished existed: 15 sites in one panel, an email when prices drop, no account, no upsell. The affiliate model means we make money only when you find a cheaper hotel — so our interests are exactly aligned with yours.

Built solo, supported solo. If something's broken, my email is at the bottom — I answer within a day.

Questions answered honestly.

Is it really free? What's the catch?
Yes, completely free. No trial, no freemium tier, no "premium" features. When you click "Book on Expedia" inside HotelDrop and complete a booking, Expedia pays us a small affiliate commission — usually 2–5% of the room rate. The price you pay doesn't change. That's the whole model. See the full explanation in our transparency block above.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Watched hotels are stored locally in the extension. We only ask for your email if you want price-drop alerts — and that's the only thing we use it for. No password, no profile, no login flow.
Which booking sites do you compare?
Booking.com, Hotels.com, Expedia, Agoda, Trip.com, Kayak, Priceline, Hotwire, TripAdvisor, Vrbo, and Hostelworld — 11 supported sites at launch, with more being added. The HotelDrop panel shows whichever of these have the same hotel and dates available.
How is this different from RatePunk or Trivago?
Some tools cover a handful of sites and don't offer price-drop alerts. Others work as standalone search platforms — meaning you start your research there rather than on the hotel page you're already browsing. HotelDrop works differently: it runs as an overlay on the hotel page you're already visiting, adds calendar-flex to surface cheaper nearby dates, and emails you if the price drops after you leave.
Will my hotel actually be cheaper?
Honestly: sometimes by $5, sometimes by $80. Across our first 100 price checks, the median saving over the site the user started on was $47/night. Some hotels are priced the same everywhere (chains enforce rate parity). Independent hotels and international chains vary most. We'll always show you the data — you decide if it's worth switching.
Is my browsing private?
Yes. We see only the hotel pages where you open HotelDrop. We don't track your general browsing, your search history, or your booking history. The only data we store server-side is: your email (if you set an alert) and the hotel details you're watching. See our full privacy policy.
Why isn't it on Firefox or Safari yet?
Building the Chrome Manifest V3 extension correctly across 11 booking sites is the first milestone. Firefox is planned for Q3 2026. Safari requires a separate app — that's Q4 2026 at the earliest. If you're on Firefox now, join the waitlist and we'll email you when it's ready.
What happens when a price drops — do you book it for me?
No, you book it yourself. We send you an email with the new price and a direct link to the booking page. You're always in control of when and where you book. We never touch your payment details.
How do you make money if it's free?
Affiliate commissions from the booking sites. When you click "Book on Expedia" in the HotelDrop panel and complete a booking within the cookie window (usually 30 days), Expedia pays us a commission. Your price is identical to going directly. Full explanation: our transparency block.
Can I uninstall easily?
Yes, one click. Right-click the HotelDrop icon in Chrome's toolbar → Remove from Chrome. All local watch data is deleted with the extension. If you had email alerts set, they stop automatically within 24 hours.

Stop overpaying for hotels.
